Demand Justice for Severely Neglected Horse Who Was Found Abandoned in a Field!

The extent of cruelty some people inflict on innocent animals is always incredibly disturbing and upsetting, and what makes matters even worse is when law enforcement and the judicial system fail to protect animals and appropriately prosecute those found guilty of animal abuse and neglect.

A petition on Care2 describes a heartbreaking case of animal abuse and neglect that took place in Millington, Michigan. A severely neglected and emaciated Appaloosa horse was found abandoned, lying helplessly in a field earlier this September. His hooves had grown so long he was unable to stand and therefore was unable to eat or drink. Not only was he starving, with his bones jutting out from under his skin, but he had a large wound on his side infested with flies, bees, and grasshoppers.

Authorities were contacted, and although the Sheriff department arrived at the scene, they said they were not familiar enough with horses to do anything about it and that Animal Control would have to address the issue. The horse was lying helpless for days before authorities and a vet decided to euthanize the innocent animal.

Complaints had been made regarding the treatment and condition of this horse since May 2017, yet nothing was done to protect him. The neglect and abuse could have been halted and his innocent life saved, but authorities apparently did not view Animal rights as a priority.

The petition is demanding justice for this horse and asking for a thorough investigation in this case in order to appropriately prosecute those responsible for this egregious act of animal abuse and neglect.
