The holiday season, though a fun and festive time, can bring about some hints of stress. It is hard shopping for all those family members and friends. But we have the answer for all your gift shopping woes! “Adopting” a baby elephant for them will not only bring a smile to your friend’s face, but it will provide the financial Support necessary to raise an orphaned baby elephant in Kenya.
This video visits the elephant nursery run by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Many of the calves at the nursery lost their mothers and herd to poaching. These little calves are the few survivors after their herds were gunned down for ivory. This nursery provides a home and expert care to any orphaned elephant lucky enough to make it and with due time and care they will be released back into the wild.
The elephant nursery, located in Tsavo East National Park, has already saved 150 orphaned calves and is excited to help save many more. Adopting an orphaned elephant will help raise the adorable baby and keep your friends and family closely involved with the progress of their new calf. It’s a win-win and a gift anyone would love to get for Christmas, Hanukah or any other holiday! To foster an elephant for your friends, visit The Davis Sheldrick Wildlife Trust fostering page here.
