The more awareness that is brought to the brutal dog and cat meat trade in Asia, the more animals can be saved. That is why it is so effective when celebrities use their platforms to educate and move the public. Celebrities including George Lopez, Carrie Fisher, and Ricky Gervais have lent their voices to stand up for the innocent victims of the dog meat trade. And now, Harry Potter star Evanna Lynch is joining the fight and helping Humane Society International (HSI) spread the word. In this video, Evanna reminds us that while dogs do suffer the brunt of this horrific practice, cats are also at risk.

More than 10 million cats are brutally killed for meat across Asia every year and over 4 million in China alone – many of whom are stolen pets. While there is much awareness of the Yulin Dog Meat Festival in China’s Guangxi district, for millions of dog and cats across Asia, every day is like Yulin. They are transported in tiny cages in the scorching heat without food, water or care, only to suffer gruesome deaths. As you can see by looking at Li the cat, these animals aren’t any different than our beloved pets!

These are animals that deserve to be happy, healthy, and loved. Thanks to the dedicated work of HSI, countless innocent dogs and cats will have a second chance. From shutting down dog meat farms to stopping transport trucks loaded with dogs and cats headed to slaughter, HSI is on the front lines, but you can help from the comfort of your own home by making a donation or sharing videos like this one with your network.
