Greyhounds Used for Racing Test Positive for Cocaine – Let’s End This Cruel Industry Once and For All!

Just when you thought the greyhound racing industry couldn’t get any worse, unfortunately, it has. In a Care2 Petition, Grey2K USA Worldwide addresses the ramped use of drugs, including cocaine, in greyhound racing. Though greyhound racing is illegal in 40 states, it is still a huge problem in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Texas, and West Virginia. The petition is specifically calling out the governors of these states to join the rest of the nation and ban greyhound racing once and for all.

These poor, innocent (and SUPER sweet, BTW) dogs are already subjected to extreme stress and cruelty. The sport often results in dogs breaking legs and even dying on the race track. Outside of the track, the dogs are usually confined to small kennels and fed raw diets. Now, according to state records, there have been 847 drug positives over the past decade, including 71 greyhound cocaine positives. While you would assume this day in age, the drug problem would be declining it actually spiked in Class 1 positives this year.

We have to put our foot down and tell the authorities that enough is enough! Show your Support by signing this important petition before more innocent dogs suffer.
