When Olive the goat was found by Hudson Valley SPCA in October 2015, she had been living in deplorable conditions in a backyard farm and slaughterhouse that housed more than 200 hundred cows, goats, pigs, and sheep. All of these animals were starving and neglected, living in horrific conditions. Luckily for Olive and the other animals, a group of rescue organizations, including Farm Sanctuary, Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue, Woodstock Farm Sanctuary and Catskill Animal Sanctuary, stepped in to give Olive and all of the animals she lived with a new life, free of harm.
After a life of trauma and fear, Olive came to live at Farm Sanctuary’s Watkin’s Glen shelter. Even more good news came for Olive on Christmas Eve when she gave birth to her baby Maggie – and she is just the cutest! Thanks to rescuers and volunteers at Farm Sanctuary, Maggie will never know the life of misery her mother endured and will forever live in peace and free of cruelty with hundreds of her animal friends.
