Friendly Cat Teaches His Newly-Adopted Brother to Play

Black and white domestic cat

A story of feline friendship has captured the attention of animal lovers worldwide. In Australia, Tuxedo cat Dobby, living happily with his parents Lou Wright and Chris Gardiner, recently welcomed a new member into their family—a fellow tuxedo named Deek.

Deek’s past as a stray didn’t deter the loving couple from giving him a forever home. However, transitioning from street life to domestic bliss was a journey Deek needed help with, and Dobby stepped up to the task.

In a delightful video shared on TikTok, Dobby’s playful antics towards his newly adopted brother melted hearts across social media. The clip, which garnered over 1.7 million likes, showcases Dobby’s efforts to coax Deek into playing, with chirps and playful gestures.

Despite initial hesitance from Deek, the bond between the two cats is evident. Wright, sharing the video, humorously captioned it as “POV: Your home kitty is trying to teach his newly domesticated brother how to play.”

Originally from New Zealand, Wright explained that Deek’s adjustment to domestic life was still underway, having been adopted just four weeks ago. Dobby’s companionship was a source of joy for the couple and a vital Support for Deek in his transition.

According to pet care experts, introducing a new cat into a household requires consideration of their personalities to ensure harmony. Fortunately, Dobby and Deek’s personalities complemented each other perfectly, leading to a swift and heartwarming friendship.
