Seeing how much progress Liam, the former bait dog, is making in his recovery is sure to make your morning. Liam was rescued earlier this month by the Streetdog Foundation. He was in one of the worst conditions they had ever seen.

The poor pup was covered in bite marks, one of his eyes was swollen shut, and he had a huge gash across his face. Thankfully, he was given emergency care for his wounds, infections, and dehydration and has been receiving continuous medical care, love, and Support from the wonderful volunteers at Streetdog Foundation. The organization has been posting regular updates on Liam’s recovery – and we couldn’t help but jump up and down seeing the latest few.

Because Liam likely spent his entire life outside as a bait dog, he was terrified of going outside but guess what?! He went outside without hiding in the corner … and without his orange puppy stuffy.

Liam is soaking up all the love he has been receiving and learning to trust his caretakers more and more. Look at that sweet face!

He is making friends of all kinds and looks much better! His wounds are healing, both physical and emotional.

“A Bushel and a Peck,” is sweetly sung as Liam is comforted and reminded that he IS loved, he IS worthy, and he IS going to finally live the life he deserves.

As seen with Liam, bait dogs used in dog fighting endure some of the cruelest and horrific treatment imaginable. Bait dogs are starved, beaten, and weakened so they can’t effectively fight back, and some even have their teeth and vocal cords removed. Though dog fighting is illegal across the entire U.S., it still goes on in many backyards across the country. If you hear or see anything that shows signs of a dog fighting ring contact your local authorities immediately!

We are rooting for you Liam and can’t wait for the next update!
