Arthur the pig snuggling against woman's chest

This is Arthur, aka Arthur The Ginger Pig. He was an orphan saved by some kind people when he was just a baby on the big island of Hawaii. Arthur was found all alone by a friend of a friend in Hilo. There were no other pigs around and no mother in sight. Rebecca, Arthur’s foster mom, explained that it’s not uncommon to find piglets alone in this area as they are often hunted. Luckily, Rebecca decided to give Arthur another chance at life!

In the video, you can see Arthur’s playful and affectionate personality blossom. In the wild, Arthur would have been very close with his mother. To try and mimic that natural experience for him, Rebecca wraps him up in a warm towel and lays him on her chest so he feels safe. Rebecca used to babysit many human babies, and believe it or not, piglets aren’t too different. Rebecca’s dog Mojo welcomed Arthur into the family straight away. Now, they are inseparable and Mojo treats him like his little brother. Rebecca urges everyone to reconsider the relationship that we have with pigs. “We can live in harmony with them. They just want to live and survive,” Rebecca says. Keep up with Arthur’s story on Instagram!
