We’re not sure what possessed this pet parent to put a cat and a parakeet together with no cage betwixt them, but luckily they’re both alive to tell the story.
Watch this very suspenseful clip to see a cheery white parakeet preening his kitty housemate’s paws and head. Both cats and birds love to groom, and birds often pick insects off of animals in the wild, but birds don’t tend to choose their own predators as hosts. What makes this one so courageous? Does the cat have some tasty insects between his toes?
In any case, while the kitty doesn’t exactly seem to relish this extra attention (he can probably groom himself just fine, thanks), he mostly lays still and peaceful while the budgie does his thing. It’s just another example of two animals who would be enemies in the wild learning to get along with each other in the right environment.
