In a world where most dogs leap with excitement at the mention of a walk, Whiskey the English bulldog stands out for his unique, comical resistance. A video of Whiskey pretending to sleep has left viewers in hysterics, amassing 1.1 million views on TikTok.
The clip, shared by his human Annabel, 25, from Surrey in the U.K., (@whiskey_britishdog), shows the stubborn bulldog feigning sleep while snoring with his eyes open. Annabel told says “He loves his sleep so much. That video was actually taken after he had just slept overnight for about 12 hours. We woke him up in the morning to go outside, then he went back to bed, and we heard that snoring 10 minutes later. He refused to walk, which is quite common for him.”
In the now-viral video, Annabel can be heard trying to coax Whiskey into action: “Whiskey, Whiskey. Come on. Go for a walk. Come on. Come for a walk. Whisk, you’re pretending. Come on.” Despite her efforts, which included belly rubs, Whiskey remained unimpressed and unmoved.
English bulldogs, known for their stocky build and affectionate nature, are typically low-maintenance in terms of exercise, needing only about 30 minutes a day according to Petplan. Whiskey, however, seems to have taken this to an extreme level, much to the amusement of his online audience.
The TikTok caption humorously read: “POV: it’s time to take your English bulldog for a walk. Whiskey has pretending to be asleep perfected.”
The video sparked a flurry of comments from fellow dog parents who shared their own humorous experiences. Leila-Marie García commented: “I used to walk an English bulldog and he would pretend to limp so I thought he was hurt so he didn’t have to go on a walk.” Rebecca Liddle added: “Okay so what went wrong with mine? He needs three walks a day and hops about like a Duracell bunny. Did I get a broken one?!”
Whiskey’s antics have not only provided laughs but also highlighted the endearing quirks that make our pets so lovable. Annabel’s video serves as a reminder that every dog, like every person, has their unique personality and preferences – even when it comes to something as simple as a walk.
