Panda, an aptly named black-and-white Pit Bull mix from Chandler, Arizona, was found by the local police with a deep slash on her throat that was nearly fatal. Luckily, she was discovered just in time and turned over to the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) where she received life-saving treatment.
Panda’s condition was horrific, as she was cut just millimeters from her jugular. It was discovered that the three-year-old dog had been recently re-homed by her previous guardian to an unknown person. Investigators ruled out the possibility of Panda’s wound being caused by another animal – and believe that the dog’s throat had been cut intentionally with a sharp object.
Lucky Panda is now starting her new life with a loving family. Fortunately, her story ended as happily as it could – but the dog’s attacker, who may be a serious threat to more animals and to people, remains to be identified.
Anyone with information about the attack on Panda is asked to contact Chandler police at 480-782-4130 or the Silent Witness Program at 480-948-6377. Silent Witness and AHS are offering a 2,000 dollar reward for information leading to the arrest or indictment of a suspect.
