Recently, an unusual post appeared on a Facebook group dedicated to the neighborhood of East Falls, Philadelphia. Facebook user Justin Hanley shared a photo of a young Pit Bull mix who had been abandoned in front of his home together with a note and … some pizza to eat. The pup, now named Diamond, needed a kind person to take care of her as soon as possible – and, thanks to the help she got from compassionate people, she is now already in her new home!
The pictures of Diamond, the note, and the pizza she had been left with were posted to the East Falls Rant Your A$$ Off Facebook group together with a request for advice as to what should best be done about the puppy. “Somebody tied up their dog and abandoned her on my front step, with a note (attached) and a bag of pizza,” Hanley wrote. “Who handles abandoned/lost dogs? spca?? This is heartbreaking stuff.”
The note left with Diamond read: “Please take me home. I’m a girl named Diamond. We can no longer keep her in our home. Thank you.”
With two young children and a dog, Hanley and his wife could not welcome Diamond into their family – but they took care of her and reached out for help to find a place for her. As Henley told Philly.com, at first she was skittish but was also “super sweet.”
Luckily, the original post generated many comments from people willing to help – and the pup soon found a home!
Diamond is already in her new home – thanks to the kind people that came together to find her a new family. Hanley wrote: “Faith in humanity restored,” after Diamond was secured in a new loving home.
If you ever find an abandoned animal yourself, remember that you can always call a professional animal rescue hotline. Unfortunately, many people take in or adopt animals without fully considering the responsibilities and cost of doing so. If you are thinking about taking in a new four-legged friend, please check out this post to ensure more cases like Diamond’s never have to happen!
