Dog Gunshot Wound Found Himself in a Kill Shelter … Now He’s Being Smothered With Love

Author Bio

I am a writer and illustrator living in Poland.

In July 2017, Murphy’s future seemed bleak to say the least. After the dog was shot in South Carolina, he ended up far from the loving home he so deserved – a kill shelter. Fortunately, the poor pup was rescued by Rescue Dogs Rock NYC and transferred to a wonderful foster home where he would finally have a chance to heal and know comfort. And now Murphy has some even better news!

When Murphy’s foster parents took him in, they planned on giving the dog a normal foster home experience, that is giving him home until he would finally find a forever one. However, that original plan did not hold up well and it was soon clear that the pup’s foster family would turn out to be much more than that.

Murphy’s foster parents decided to give him a forever home!

“[W]e realized very quickly Murphy was already home,” his ex-foster and newly-forever guardians write on the rescue’s Facebook page.

Murphy and his new family’s dog, Tommie, got along from the moment they met and the family could tell they would be best friends – and could not imagine breaking that bond up.

It was not a long time ago that Murphy was just healing from his wound at a shelter, his future completely uncertain…

…but now, his life is the complete opposite of that – and he has all comforts a dog could ask for!

The couple has been fostering for Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for almost two years, taking care of a total of seven dogs. Even though Murphy turned out to be a major “foster fail,” they will keep fostering, giving more dogs a chance to have normal happy lives.
