2. Baby Elephant Taking Dust Bath Will Melt Your Heart

A video posted by the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is melting hearts. In the video, a baby elephant can be seen enjoying a dust bath. The baby elephant is part of the Conservation organization’s Orphans’ Project. This project cares for baby elephants and other animals who have been orphaned. These young elephants are particularly vulnerable to predation and poachers. The program has successfully raised 320 orphaned animals. The animals raised by the project are returned to the wild when they are ready.

3. Animal Sanctuary Looks for New Location Due to Climate change

The Catskills Animal Sanctuary is searching for a new location after 22 years. Founded in 2001, the animal sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing farm animals. Their 150-acre property in upstate New York is home to sheep, goats, cows, pigs, horses, chickens, and more. However, according to an Instagram post from the animal sanctuary, Climate change has caused damage to the property and threatened the safety of the animals who are housed there. The animal sanctuary has suffered from flooding, tree loss, and erosion.

4. A Pod of Killer Whales is Trapped in Drift Ice

The welfare of a pod of killer whales is in danger as they appear to be trapped amidst drift ice off the coast of Hokkaido in northern Japan. The distressing scene, captured by NHK, showcases at least 10 orcas struggling to navigate through the icy waters near Rausu on the Shiretoko peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich biodiversity.

Among the finds were charred meats, smoked monkey, and even entire animal carcasses concealed under layers of dried fish and herbs. This is only one case of the illegal bushmeat trade.

When one neighborhood in the Colombian city of Medellín found themselves being overlooked by government organizations, they banded together to create their climate change action plan. Residents in the hillside neighborhood of Comuna Ocho have designed an emergency action plan, set up a water filtration system, and worked to educate residents about the potential effects of climate change.
