There’s nothing quite like a steaming cup of coffee to perk you up in the morning. Some of us even love the taste of coffee so much that we’ll drink it hot or cold, morning or afternoon, with no cream or sugar added.
Well, our daily java habit might just be helping us prevent cancer! We already know that coffee has some great health benefits, but a new study takes it further. According to researchers from the University of Southern California Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center, the more coffee you drink a day, the lower your risk of getting hepatocellular carcinoma.
“Now we can add HCC [hepatocellular carcinoma] to the list of medical ailments, such as Parkinson’s disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke, that may be prevented by coffee intake,” study researcher V. Wendy Setiawan, Ph.D., said in a statement as reported by The Huffington Post. “Daily coffee consumption should be encouraged in individuals who are at high risk for HCC.”
Those are some delicious findings. Celebrate the good news with a coffee-inspired snack, such as hazelnut coffee cake, mocha chip larabar or vegan mocha pops. Then, drench your entire face in coffee, cacao and almond milk with this homemade chocolate coffee face mask. Just make sure you buy fair trade beans to keep in tandem with the Green Monster spirit of things.
