Giant Eagle, a grocery chain in Ohio, recently pulled Acadia Spring Water from its shelves as a precautionary measure. The water is supplied by Creekside Springs, which is located about 25 miles from where the train derailed. If you have this brand of water at home, check the best buy date to see if it was bottled after the disaster.

According to reports, all gallon-sized water bottles from the Salineville, Ohio, facility have a best-buy date. If the date falls after February 3, 2025, it was sourced from the facility after the derailment. But the good news is that Giant Eagle is offering a refund for anyone who purchased the water.

While there is no evidence that the water has been negatively impacted, it’s better to err on the side of caution. The constant water testing by a third-party lab is reassuring, but it’s always a good idea to be mindful of the products we consume.

This incident highlights the importance of knowing where our bottled water comes from and how it’s sourced. Bottled water is often marketed as a safer and cleaner alternative to tap water, but the reality is that it’s only sometimes the case.
