She enjoys coming up with new plant based dishes, taking pictures of those dishes to put up on Instagram with a great filter and some pertinent hashtags and then eating those dishes. Yeah, she’s that person. She also likes to tell people she’s been drinking almond milk since before it was cool, has a small thrift store addiction and cannot pass up a garage sale. She lives with her two kids, two dogs and husband in the wild west. Read more about JJ Dolm Read More
These cats know the struggle is real. When faced with the choice of dealing with the real world and all of its stressors, they’d far prefer to snuggle up with their favorite teddy and just check out.
Can you blame them? This world is a crazy place! Who amongst us wouldn’t like to take a step back from that entire box of spilled cereal that the kids are currently blaming each other for contributing to your kitchen floor, cozy up with a soft, plush toy and forget all of your woes? It’s basically the cat equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and saying, “la la la la.”
Actually, there’s a pretty easily explained physiological reason for it. Kittens are unable to regulate their own body temperature until three weeks of age, requiring them to cozy up to their mothers for warmth. After they mature, the habit of getting up close and personal is pretty ingrained for gathering comfort. Cats who’ve been socialized early will turn to their human friends, the other animals in the house and, obviously, cheerful children’s toys to satisfy their canoodling needs. All of those options yield so much win.
It’s pretty safe to say that we’re never going to stop gushing over these sweeties squeezing their fluffy friends. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve gotta go take a page out of their book and pretend that the check engine light didn’t blink on during our commute home. (Disclaimer: we aren’t serious, don’t ignore standard car maintenance).
