Veterinarians diagnosed Romeo the boxer with osteosarcoma — bone cancer — and mast cells. They did everything they could to remove the mast cells from his body and did so successfully, but determined the large tumor lingering on Romeo’s left hind leg was unremovable.
Romeo’s inoperable bone cancer left his days numbered. He had two choices: to live out his life with the usually day-to-day grunt or he could conquer and fulfill a doggie “bucket list.” And a bucket list of fun activities he sure did, with the help of his two human parents.
“I was just so upset for the first few days, I needed to do something to occupy my mind,” said Riina Cooke, Romeo’s human mom, to Express.
Cooke set out to create a bucket list for Romeo with things from getting a “paw-dicure” to riding a fire truck. Unfortunately, Riina made the tough decision to put Romeo down on March 16, but not before celebrating his ninth birthday in February with a big birthday bash, where he got to chow down on some cake.
Check out some of the amazing things Romeo got to check off from his bucket list in the photos below:
Cooke shared the fun activities she completed with Romeo on his own Facebook page, and inspired many others in similar situations to create their own doggie bucket lists.
“People are saying, ‘It inspired us to live out the last days with our cherished family members, four legs or two, and end happy,’” Cooke told Today.com.

Douglas Eden, How dare you! I don\’t even know Romeo but if he\’s anything like my Travis, I\’d take his loyal friendship over yours any day! People could learn many things from dogs.

The whole notion of a dog with any long term goals of ” bucket list ” is insane. . This is just more anthropomorphism of animals into more human than they truly are. .
