Sassy the Bulldog was born with severe hip dysplasia and other conditions of dwarfism thought to be the result of irresponsible breeding. Skin problems, cataracts, spinal disc issues, and a whole host of other conditions ail many purebred dogs. And unfortunately for Sassy, her condition meant that she was not profitable to the breeder who owned her. Knowing he’d never be able to sell her, Sassy ended up at the Manhattan Animal Control Center.
As fate would have it, Sassy ended up finding the perfect human dad that loves her regardless of her small size. And it also seems like her Facebook fans love her regardless too, all 20,000 of them adoring the little Bulldog!
Sassy may have been seen as nothing more than a commodity to her breeder, but now, her life couldn’t be better. Thanks to Ernesto, who recognized her as an individual, Sassy’s boisterous and beautiful personality is able to shine every day.
Each year in the U.S., six to eight million dogs and cats find themselves in animal shelters, with only about three million making it out alive. Of the dogs, approximately 35 percent of them are purebreds, indicating that, although many purebred dogs are purchased as puppies, lots of them will still end up meeting the same sad fate as the rest.
For little more than the cost to drive to your closest shelter, you could go home with the puppy of your dreams and save a life. The bottom line is that when you buy, others die. So take a trip down to your local animal shelter and save a life today!
And be sure to stay up to date with all of Sassy’s adorableness by following her Facebook page!

There just is no such thing as a good breeder. They see animals as commodities, and use them for profit.
