As children, we had those moments when we needed to test the water before diving into something new and different. Remember going to the pool or lake and dipping your toe in a bit to feel the temperature and depth? Just like a child, the elephant in this video is taking caution before diving in, and it’s adorable!
Watch Faa Mai the elephant play around at the pond by the riverbank at Elephant Nature Park. She is so cute as she tests out the water with the tip of her trunk. Then, others in the herd come and join her for a elephant pool party. It looks like fun!
Elephants enjoy going into the water on their own, but not all of the elephant videos you see are as genuine as this one. Faa Mai is in Elephant Nature Park, where she is free to live naturally, but other elephants in Thailand face cruelty at the hands of humans. In other places, trainers can force the elephants to splash around in the water for tourists, so be weary of other videos that don’t come from sanctuaries.
We’re fans of our friends (both human and elephant!) at Elephant Nature Park. For more videos from the sanctuary, check out Watch These Elephants Play With a New Toy at Their Sanctuary and Rescued Elephant Gets Hold of Ribbon and Dances Her Heart Out.
