Billie Eilish, Janelle Monae, and Finneas Honored at Vegan Fundraiser

At Support + Feed’s inaugural fundraiser in Los Angeles, Billie Eilish, Finneas O’Connell, and Janelle Monáe were recognized with Inspiration Awards for their remarkable contributions to the cause of sustainability and compassion.

Support + Feed, a plant-based food initiative, was conceived by the dynamic trio of Billie Eilish, her brother Finneas O’Connell, and their mother Maggie Baird. The event celebrated the convergence of activism, artistry, and philanthropy, inviting activists, artists, and philanthropists to partake in an evening filled with engaging discussions on critical issues such as the climate crisis, environmental sustainability, and more.

Maggie Baird, speaking to the gathered audience, emphasized the remarkable community efforts that have shaped Support + Feed’s mission. She expressed her deep appreciation for those who have lent their platforms, financial Support, and dedication to the cause. Baird, who recognized the darkness that often looms in the world, particularly alluding to the Israel-Palestine conflict, celebrated the unity of individuals working toward a brighter future.

Janelle Monáe, a multi-talented artist and environmental activist, was one of the honorees at the event. In a poignant speech, she shared her own experiences of growing up in a less fortunate environment. Monáe’s childhood was marked by moments of need, where her family relied on food assistance from various sources, including churches, the Salvation Army, and relatives.

The Inspiration Awards were also bestowed upon Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, who played instrumental roles in founding Support + Feed. Finneas, in his acceptance speech, recognized the financial contributions made by the organization’s supporters as an essential aspect of their work. He humbly acknowledged that their journey began when he and Billie, during the pandemic, decided to use their newfound resources to Support their community.

During the lockdown, the idea of supporting vegan restaurants and providing food to those in need emerged. Billie and Finneas used their time off from touring to turn this idea into a reality. Their dedication and commitment led to the birth of Support + Feed, an organization that not only promotes a plant-based lifestyle but also serves as a lifeline for communities in need.
