The Catskills Animal Sanctuary is searching for a new location after 22 years. Founded in 2001, the animal sanctuary is dedicated to rescuing farm animals. Their 150-acre property in upstate New York is home to sheep, goats, cows, pigs, horses, chickens, and more. However, according to an Instagram post from the animal sanctuary, Climate change has caused damage to the property and threatened the safety of the animals who are housed there. The animal sanctuary has suffered from flooding, tree loss, and erosion.
While the Catskills Animal Sanctuary does not yet have a new location selected, the search is underway. They hope to create a space that will be able to weather the extreme weather events associated with climate change. This will allow the group to ensure the safety and happiness of the animals in their care. In the meantime, the sanctuary will continue its commitment to rescuing farm animals and educating visitors about the benefits of a vegan lifestyle.
