Halbert and Darius were both rescued from a terrible “humane” meat facility where they were severely neglected and never even got to go outside. At Farm Sanctuary, they became the best of friends and were always by each other’s side to experience their new world. Eventually, Darius started to have an issue with his leg and lose mobility, but Halbert was there to Support his friend every step of the way. Sadly, despite everything that the sanctuary did, Darius wasn’t getting better, and they had to let him go.
Poor Halbert lost his best friend that had been with him through everything. He was heartbroken and could even be heard crying at night. The sanctuary staff was worried about him experiencing broken heart syndrome, so they did whatever they could to lift his spirits. They weren’t the only ones. The staff also noticed that other sheep and goats were coming over to hang out with the heartbroken goat. After around a week, Halbert started acting like his old happy self. He was even seen cuddling and enjoying the company of Rory, Lorelai, Paris, Lane, Chucky, and Aretha! With the help of his new group of friends, Halbert was able to heal from his broken heart and find joy again.
