Even minor injuries have the potential to be devastating for wild animals. Luckily there are people out there who are willing to take the time to help these animals get fit and healthy again. Margaret Howley is one of those people and her capacity for kindness is inspiring.
Margaret spent most of her life as a nurse helping human patients in hospitals, but now she dedicates her time to caring for abandoned and injured animals, instead. As a volunteer with Australia’s Hunter Wildlife Rescue, Margaret cares for 20 eastern Grey Kangaroos of varying ages and two possums – in addition to her pet Great Dane, Farrah.
The new babies that come into Margaret’s care need round the clock attention, which she happily provides. She bottle feeds them, cleans out their pens, and loves each one individually … all by herself at 71 years old! When the animals are strong enough, they will be released back to the wild, where they belong.
There is no arguing with the fact that the world is a better place for animals thanks to kind people like Margaret Howley. To learn more about this amazing woman’s work and Hunter Wildlife Rescue, check out their website.
