A new gadget from pet tech company Petlibro is changing how we connect with our animal companions. According to TechCrunch, the Scout Smart Camera uses artificial intelligence to monitor, track, and describe your pet’s every move—and the results are as cute as they are cutting-edge.

Scout does more than just let you check in on your pet from afar. It features two-way audio, auto-tracking, and even chirps to get your pet’s attention. But what really sets it apart is its AI engine. Scout identifies when your pet is eating, drinking, walking, or using the litter box. It can even recognize multiple animals in the same home, creating separate profiles and learning their habits over time. The result? A camera that doesn’t just see your pet—it gets to know them.

Petlibro’s system offers charming written updates like “Zelda is calmly strolling across the shiny floor, her nose pointed forward as she explores her surroundings with gentle curiosity.” It also sends surprise selfies, compiles daily highlights, and stores 30 days’ worth of video clips in the cloud.

The Scout camera is priced at $100, with AI features available through a $12 or $17 monthly subscription. Unlike rival Furbo’s pricier model, Scout currently lacks barking alerts, but Petlibro is working on adding both bark and meow detection.

The company is transparent about using image data (not audio) to improve camera performance, explaining that the more you use it—and the more feedback you give—the smarter it becomes.

If you share your life with animals, this tech may be a playful way to deepen your bond while supporting innovation in pet-friendly AI. As always, choose products that reflect your values and keep your furry friends safe and happy—without sacrificing their privacy or peace.
