This Abused Poodle Puppy Barely Resembles a Dog – But Rescuers Refuse to Give Up on Him!

Author Bio

I am a writer and illustrator living in Poland.

To just look at Palmier, a little dog found on the streets of Baltimore, is heartbreaking. This pup is suspected to be the victim of many years of animal abuse, and he seems too hurt and far gone to ever get back to a full and happy life. But the reality surprises us again. Despite his awful injuries, Palmier is now recovering and really wants to heal – but he needs help.

Rescuers found the Poodle/Shih Tzu mix, believed to be around four years old, in a horrid condition – he was blind, beaten, and emaciated. Without a doubt, Palmier could have found the streets he had been abandoned in deadly. But, somehow, he survived. It is unclear what happened to him and who is responsible for his suffering.“ These types of things don’t happen over night, so if he was owned, somebody was neglecting this dog,” said the pup’s foster parent Shelly DeSouza, as reported by CBS Baltimore.

Palmier’s injuries are abhorrently severe – his face is smashed, his body mangled and starved almost to death. According to the veterinarians, the face injury may have come from a hard kick, while the distressing skinniness is an unmistakable sign of serious neglect. One side of his mouth is infected, as well as his wounded face, and his untreated skin has thickened uncomfortably. Despite all the pain, Palmier is a sweet pup, calm and very eager to get better.

It was a close call for Palmier – but the moment he was found by the rescuers, his life changed completely.

In spite of the poor sight that Palmier is with all his terrifying injuries, the vets projected that the little pup can, in fact, recover. Despite the pain, he is “eating like a champ.” He is on antibiotics and necessary pain medications. The little survivor already had a full blood work, ear cytology, eye pressure test, aspiration of lymph nodes, and a thorough body exam at the Burke Animal Clinic Pets.

Palmier is at the beginning of a long road to recovery which, hopefully, will end up in the biggest, most astounding success and transformation. As his carers say, “We know we’re not the only ones who just can’t wait for this little guy’s ‘after’ picture.” To cover his medical expenses, the dog’s new caretakers ask for donations and launched a crowd funding page to help the little fellow get as much help from kind souls all over the world as possible.
