Two Husky puppies were unceremoniously dumped in the play area of the Jackson County Animal Shelter by a woman driving a blue pickup truck. The abandoned puppies were severely malnourished and suffering from parasites. The puppies were only six months old but weighed less than half of what is considered a healthy weight. The Husky puppies’ former caretaker was located after CCTV footage was posted to the shelter’s Facebook page. The person confessed to neglecting the Huskies while the puppies were under their care.
After dropping the Husky puppies over a tall fence into the play yard, the person driving the blue truck quickly left the scene. The confused pups remained in the play yard until a shelter staff member arrived and discovered them. The dogs were admitted to the shelter, where they received medical care. Staff said that the Husky puppies were terrified and did not want to be touched by shelter staff.
After receiving treatment, the two puppies were placed into a foster home together. Eventually, the duo was cleared for adoption. Soon, they found an amazing new home where they will get to remain together.
The Jackson County Animal Shelter reminds people that dumping or abandoning animals under their care is not a solution. Instead, people struggling to care for animal companions should reach out to reputable rescues and shelters to surrender animals or receive assistance.
