The journey towards this collaboration began in February 2022 when Merit’s Signature Lip lipsticks made their debut on the Proenza Schouler Fall/Winter runway. The immediate connection between the two brands was evident, setting the stage for a more extensive partnership.

Merit Beauty, known for its clean, skincare-infused makeup products, introduced The Signature Bag—a versatile velvet pouch designed to serve as both a makeup bag and a clutch. The merging of fashion and beauty worlds was clear, making it the ideal canvas for Proenza Schouler’s creative touch.

Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, the designers behind Proenza Schouler, decided to reimagine The Signature Bag. Their goal was to elevate the bag’s appearance using a leather-like material while maintaining its functionality as the primary focus. The result is a vegan leather makeup bag that embodies undeniably chic aesthetics, with a color-block combination of black and Merit’s signature blue that is revealed when the bag is tied.

Today, fashion enthusiasts and beauty lovers can experience the collaboration through the Proenza Schouler and Moda Operandi pre-order of the “Runway Set.” This limited-edition kit includes the newly designed vegan leather bag and a selection of Merit makeup products, including the Great Skin Serum, Brush No. 1, Clean Lash mascara, Shade Slick lip oil, and Flush Balm blush. It’s a delightful blend of style and substance that encapsulates the essence of both brands.

In mid-October, Merit Beauty will offer the vegan leather bag as a gift with purchase on orders over $100 at meritbeauty.com, allowing even more people to experience this unique fusion of fashion and beauty.
