Many people have become sick, several pets have died, and scientists believe the effects of this spill could last for years. Poor regulation and malpractice are the likely causes of this spill and Norfolk Southern needs to be held accountable for this. However, the couple has been charged with breaking several state and federal hunting laws and even pleaded guilty to violating the Lacey Act. They’ve also been charged with breaking the Migratory Bird Act. Despite all this, the pair continues to promote illegal hunting tactics and maintains their innocence on social media. 5. Urge States to Pass Protections for Abortion and the LGBTQ+ Community

New York is amending its constitution to protect people from being discriminated against for their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. The amendment will also give people a right to reproductive health care. If we can enshrine these protections into state laws across the country, we can help a lot of people who are being discriminated against. A man in Iran who recently beheaded his 17-year-old wife and carried her head around in public while smiling received a sentence of only eight years in prison. Women and men in Iran have been protesting the misogyny that is built into Iranian laws for a long time. Many have been arrested, tortured, and even killed for voicing their beliefs. 7. Help Make Sure This Animal Abuser is Never Allowed to Have Animals Again

Authorities in Burke County, North Carolina, seized 49 miniature horses and 39 chickens from two properties. The animals were suffering from various states of neglect and an investigation showed that horses were so desperate for food that they were eating sawdust and mud. On top of that, the skeletal remains of other animals were littered around the properties. The woman who is responsible for this is already out on bond and the law will allow her to continue to “own” animals. Canada recently banned cosmetic testing on animals after years of campaigning by Animal rights advocates. Approximately 500,000 animals endure these tests every year even though numerous ingredients are already approved for cosmetic use and better technology exists to test these products. The Cunninghams had their four children taken away after they were injured in their jobs and became addicted to pain medications. Luckily, both parents were able to get sober and get their lives back on track. However, the North Carolina state foster care system only gave three of their children back because the Cunnighams owed the state money for foster care. Parents should not have their children stolen from them because they can’t afford to pay a bill. The team has been asked repeatedly to change their name, yet has continually refused to do so.
