Catarroja, Valencia, Spain. October 31, 2024 - After the floods in the street full of mud and debris, vehicles appear covered in garbage and reeds

Torrential rain has devastated Spain’s southern and eastern regions, with deadly flash floods claiming at least 205 lives and leaving many more missing. Roads have collapsed, emergency services are struggling to reach survivors, and even a courthouse has been turned into a temporary morgue. The Spanish government has declared three days of mourning—but mourning isn’t enough.

Scientists confirm that Climate change intensified the storm, making the rainfall 12% heavier and up to 300 times more likely. A warming Atlantic is fueling extreme weather, and disasters like this will only worsen unless we take bold action.

The EU has proposed cutting emissions by 90% by 2040—but we need real commitments, not just recommendations. Sign the petition now to demand the European Parliament and EU countries act immediately to curb emissions and prevent future climate catastrophes!
