1. Silent Spring (1963)

Rachel Carson’s book exposed the dangers of pesticides, leading to the banning of DDT in the United States and the birth of the modern environmental movement. Silent Spring sparked a widespread government investigation into the use of pesticides. 2. Save the Whales (1980s)
