JD was born at a farm, where he was kept tied to a wall by a chain and twine. The poor calf was found “standing in his own filth, unable to move around or lay down.” Thinking that JD was blind, the farmer was going to send him to slaughter. JD didn’t end up being blind, but that assumption saved his life.
Because the farmer was just going to slaughter the poor calf, rescuers from Sleepy Pig Animal Sanctuary convinced him to let them take JD and his brother. Road to Refuge Farm Sanctuary took JD in and started to help him recover. Only a few days old when he was taken from his mother, JD was very ill and went through a lot of ups and downs. Fortunately, his rescuers supported him the best that they could and now he is thriving! He even got the name “JD” – short for Jack Daniels – because “He was as strong as whiskey!”
JD loves to bump heads with his best friend, named Bubbles, and play around with two goats who also live at the sanctuary. Thanks to the work of these amazing rescuers, he underwent a huge transformation and is now a happy, healthy cow!
