Bear bile is a traditional Asian medicine that has been used to treat various ailments for thousands of years. While it does have medicinal qualities, there are so many ethical alternatives that do not cause harm to animals.
The bear bile industry is yet another example of the many cruel and unnecessary ways that humans exploit animals. At these farms, the poor bears are kept in tiny cages for their entire lives without being given enough food or water. They routinely have bile taken from their gallbladders, which is not just painful in itself, it also causes infections that usually go untreated. These bears die often slow and painful deaths as a result of disease and starvation.
Fortunately, there are organizations and activists that are doing amazing work to put an end to this cruel industry and rescue as many bears as possible. Animals Asia is one of these awesome organizations! One part of their advocacy and activism to end the bear bile industry is rescuing and rehabilitating bear bile bears so that they can live out the rest of their lives in sanctuaries. (You can read more about their amazing work here!)
In this video, Gemma, Moggy, Joy, and Su Su enjoy rolling around in soft grass after being kept in captivity for the bear bile industry. It’s obvious how happy these bears are to be at their new homes, free from the humans that exploited them! This sweet video is sure to make you smile and warm your heart.
