Lady Freethinker (LFT) has released a report detailing animal abuse videos and how YouTube profits from these horrible posts. Looking for animal abuse videos between April and May 2020, and then revisiting in July 2020, LFT uncovered some horrible violations.

The site found over 1 billion views for more than 2,000 videos showcasing animal cruelty, and 91% of the videos were still on YouTube at the end of the investigation. The videos were posted across 150 channels.

“YouTube must do a better job at monitoring and removing all videos that violate its terms and standards, alerting local law enforcement to illegal content, and holding channels accountable for their actions with suspensions and terminations,” said Nina Jackel, founder and president of Lady Freethinker, in The Guardian.

The videos are in violation of YouTube’s community standards and many are in violation of the laws in jurisdictions in which they are filmed. Animal abuse including animals being eaten alive, tortured and videos displaying cruel hunting techniques were all included in the roundup. The videos included inhumane treatment of companion, farm and wild animals.
