PETA recently sent a letter and tweeted to British supermodel, Kate Moss, asking her to ditch fur after so many fashion companies, including Saint Laurent, have done the same. Moss has continued to sport fur fashion amidst plenty of anti-fur protests and has yet to comment on PETA’s request.
Hey Kate Moss,
Don’t risk becoming as irrelevant as the furs you’ve been wearing all these years—young people don’t want to buy clothing made from the skin of animals!
Will you catch up with @YSL, @gucci, & the rest of the fashion industry & go fur-free? https://t.co/jV2VsoV7Ce

PETA argued that the only hope of staying relevant in today’s world fur-free fashion world would be to do stop wearing fur. The letter read, “Young people today don’t want to buy clothing made from the skins of animals who suffered in filthy, cramped cages for their entire miserable lives.”
The letter also cited luxury fashion company, Kering, for making the decision to go fur-free. This was a huge step forward, as Kering’s brands include major luxury brands, including Saint Laurent and Gucci.
Kering boss and multi-billionaire, François-Henri Pinault, said, “When it comes to animal welfare, our Group has always demonstrated its willingness to improve practices within its own supply chain and the luxury sector in general. The time has now come to take a further step forward by ending the use of fur in all our collections. The world has changed, along with our clients, and luxury naturally needs to adapt to that.”
PETA offered to take Moss’ old fur coats off of her hands so that they could be used in the organization’s amnesty program, which involves donating old fur clothing for educational programs, bedding at wildlife sanctuaries, or refugees. Other stars, including Mariah Carey and Kim Cattrall, have donated to this program.
The fur industry is cruel and completely inhumane. Animals suffer in tiny, unsanitary cages for months, before they are killed for their fur using a variety of painful practices. It is an industry of the past that should be completely removed from the world of fashion.
