Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. Last October, a woman in Florida carried her Chihuahua into a swimming pool and held them underwater until they drowned to death. After letting the body float for a moment so she could film it, she grabbed the corpse and slammed it against the concrete several times. She then live-streamed the corpse on social media four days later. On top of this, the woman had already been charged with stabbing her roommate. Please sign this petition to make sure this woman is never allowed near an animal again and is given mandatory counseling! 

2. Help Protect the Amazon Rainforest from Mining Companies

The Amazon rainforest has been under threat for decades and has seen even more devastation during the Bolsonaro presidency. One of the new threats it faces is mining companies which are seizing airstrips, building their own, cutting down parts of the forest, and poisoning waterways with toxic runoff. On top of this, many of these miners are working illegally in indigenous territory. Please sign this petition to urge the Brazilian government to protect the rainforest, indigenous people, and the planet! 

3. Ask Univeral Studios to Donate to Wildlife Conservation

Due to Climate change, habitat loss, poaching, trophy hunting, and other threats, African lions have seen their populations dwindle by more than 40% in the last three decades. However, a new movie called Beast was released this month which depicts a lion as a bloodthirsty villain who stalks and hunts a family. Lions are already listed as “vulnerable”, and we don’t need messaging that further demonizes these beautiful animals. Please sign this petition to ask Universal Studios to Donate a portion of the film’s profits to wildlife Conservation! 

4. Demand Senate Ban Assault Weapons

It’s that time of year again when parents and kids pick out new school supplies and clothes. One unique product that has garnered some controversies is bulletproof backpacks. Besides being extremely expensive, the idea of buying a backpack with “armored plates” to protect kids at school is horrifying and sad. What we need now is commonsense gun control legislation. Please sign this petition to demand the Senate vote to ban assault weapons! 

5. Tell Congress to Update the Violence Against Women Act

The Violence Against Women Act has a loophole that allows stalkers, current or ex-partners who were convicted of domestic abuse, to be able to have firearms. More than half of the states have corrected the loophole but it’s time for this to be corrected on a federal level. After all, men who have access to a firearm are five times more likely to murder their partner. Please sign this petition to call on Congress to update the Violence Against Women Act! 

6. Urge Google to Implement a Global Opt-Out for its Browser 

While Google Chrome has its benefits, one of its major drawbacks is that it doesn’t have a global opt-out for its browser. This means that users don’t have control over their privacy and data and they have to opt-out of their information being given to each website. This creates a huge burden on the users. Please sign this petition to urge Google to implement a global opt-out for its browser! 

7. Demand Justice for Freya the Walrus

Freya the walrus became somewhat of a celebrity in Norway. She would climb on people’s boats and piers to sunbathe and sleep, and she seemed relatively unfazed by the attention she attracted. But two weeks ago, Norwegian authorities decided to kill her because people were getting too close to her. But why should Freya have to pay for human ignorance? As Climate change intensifies, humans are going to encounter more and more wildlife when their habitats are altered, and we need to find a way to live peacefully with them. Please sign this petition to demand that Norwegian authorities update their policy to make sure something like this never happens again! 

8. Help Wildlife Rescue Agencies Receive More Funding

Recently, a lion in Kenya stepped on a wire snare trap and it was digging so deeply into his paw that it was almost severed. Luckily, veterinarians arrived on the scene in time and were able to cut him free of the trap with bolt cutters. Situations like this are not uncommon, as money-hungry poachers have set up tens of thousands of these traps across Kenya. But several organizations help save wildlife, like the ones that helped the lion, and they need our Support. Please sign this petition to help these agencies receive additional funding for their important work! 

9. Urge Congress to Decriminalize Cannabis on the Federal Level

Well over half of U.S. states have legalized medical marijuana and more than 20 states have legalized recreational marijuana. However, marijuana is still illegal federally, even though the vast majority of voters Support it being legalized. The war on drugs has ruined countless lives and has especially affected people of color. Please sign this petition to help urge Congress to pass new legislation that would decriminalize cannabis on the federal level! 

10. Demand Disney Make Up for Killing Hundreds of Lemmings in the 1950s

In the 1950s, Disney released a nature documentary entitled White Wilderness. During the movie, a scene showed what looked like several hundred lemmings jumping off a cliff and drowning in icy water. This scene, however, was staged, and Disney threw the lemmings to help fit the narrative of their film. Sadly, this film helped fuel the disparaging phrase, “don’t be a lemming.” As the habitats of these adorable arctic animals are being threatened by Climate change, it’s time Disney stepped up and helped protect these animals to make up for their despicable actions several decades ago. 11. Tell French Authorities to Ban Excess Water Usage from Golf Courses

Like many places in Europe, France is going through a serious drought. There are a hundred villages that don’t have enough drinking water and most residents are being asked to avoid using water for non-essential reasons. However, besides one region in France, golf courses have still been allowed to water their courses. Please sign this petition to urge French authorities to ban this excess water usage!
