If you want to control animal hair in your home, there are several things that you can do. These tips will help you to keep a cleaner and more hygienic home!

As much as we may love our fur babies, pet hair can be a nuisance. That is why these tips are so useful and can help you to stay sane with shedding pets.

How to Control Animal Hair in Your Home

Animal hair is just one of the realities of being a pet owner. But the good thing is that you can deal with it in multiple ways. With these helpful tips, you can better control the animal hair in your home, keeping you and your fur babies happy!

Use an Automatic Vacuum Cleaner

Using an automatic vacuum cleaner to control animal hair in your home is one of the best options. It’s like having a little maid who cleans up your floors throughout the day.

You can set it to cleaning all day long to get those pesky balls of pet hair that like to float around table legs and furniture.

It makes cleaning a much easier job for you to tackle since most of the pet hair has already been taken care of. Check out this one on Amazon.

Sweep Regularly

Whether you have an automatic vacuum cleaner or not, you should still sweep very regularly. This will help to really control all of that pet hair that likes to settle on the floor.

This is a task that should be done every other day if you have one or more pets. If you have several shedding pets, you might want to consider sweeping every day!

One great way to control the pet hair on your floor is to sweep regularly then go over the floor again with a Swiffer – you can even get reusable dust pads to be more sustainable.

This way, you are able to grab any pesky hairs that got away from your broom. This is like dusting the floor.

Brush Your Animal Frequently

One hugely effective way to control animal hair in your home is to brush your pets very frequently. This goes for dogs and cats that shed.

Doing this will help to reduce the amount of hair that your pets shed around the house. Whenever you brush them just think of that big ball of hair being dispersed through your home!

One great way to control pet hair is to brush your pets every other day, especially during shedding season. If it is colder, you can ease up on brushing since they will start to naturally shed less.

If you can, brush your animals outside to avoid dispersing pet hair in the air in your home.

Use Dryer Balls

Dryer balls are an amazing item that work as a static eraser for your clothes. Traditional dryer balls aren’t vegan since they are made out of wool, but there are plenty of vegan-friendly options!

A dryer ball can mean any object that is dryer safe that is made from an anti-static material. Their job is to reduce static which helps the dryer to suck up excess pet hair. As well as to basically beat the hair out of your laundry.

Dryer balls bounce around in your dryer as your laundry dries. This helps to remove stubborn strands of pet hair that want to stick to your clothes.

This is also a great option if your dryer just isn’t very good at pulling pet hair off of your laundry.

Wash Smarter Not Harder

One huge game changer when it comes to controlling pet hair in your home is to wash smarter not harder.

Believe it or not, your washing machine doesn’t remove pet hair, it can’t. The best it can do is clump the pet hair into balls for you.

If you really want to remove pet hair from your laundry, you need to throw those clothes and blankets into the dryer first.

Use the air fluff or heatless setting on your dirty laundry before washing it. This will help to break up the pet hair and pull it off of the clothes before washing them.

Then, when you put your laundry in the washing machine and add white vinegar on the rinse cycle. Vinegar will repel the hair and act as a nonstatic agent, which helps to remove pet hair.

Between these two tips, your laundry will come out looking ten times cleaner and fresher!

Lint Roll Furniture

There are all kinds of amazingly effective lint rollers for furniture that do not use sticky tape. This is not only eco-friendly but also way cheaper!

These types of rollers are perfect for removing animal hair from your home. You should use these rollers once every day on the pieces of furniture where your pets spend the most time. This will help to control animal hair on your furniture and keep your home looking tidy.

Dust Frequently

Pet hair has a way of settling into every nook and cranny of your home. That is just the reality of pet hair, and you will most likely see more of it than you do dust.

The best way to talk pet hair in a big way around your house is to dust frequently. And by frequently, I mean several times a week.

Unlike dust, pet hair can build up very fast, which means that the more you dust, the smaller the problem. If you never dust, you will have a very large hair issue to tackle.

Dusting frequently can help to minimize the pet hair clinging to your furniture and decor. As well as any surface in your home. This can overall decrease the amount of pet hair swirling in the air and landing on things.
