She enjoys coming up with new plant based dishes, taking pictures of those dishes to put up on Instagram with a great filter and some pertinent hashtags and then eating those dishes. Yeah, she’s that person. She also likes to tell people she’s been drinking almond milk since before it was cool, has a small thrift store addiction and cannot pass up a garage sale. She lives with her two kids, two dogs and husband in the wild west. Read more about JJ Dolm Read More
People love the holidays, that’s no secret. It’s a time of year when an individual who has been able to go through life all year as a mild mannered member of society is suddenly compelled to wrap their car in Christmas lights, wear reindeer antlers to work and begin blasting Christmas tunes before the mashed potatoes and stuffing from Thanksgiving are even cold. Quite simply, it’s a time of year for people to go utterly bonkers in a socially sanctioned way.
But, that doesn’t mean that everyone shares the same level of enthusiasm. Where some people go full Griswold, others may toss a poinsettia out on the doorstep and call it a day. Still others say “bah humbug” to the entire affair and settle in for the long slog to spring with nary a glance at the Hanukkah happenings or Christmas craziness afoot all around them. It’s a spectrum of merriment, you see, and everyone falls somewhere on it.
This includes our companion animals. Those sharing our household may gaze at the sparkly tree, the lit menorah or the twerking Santa your cousin bought you as a gag gift last year with awe and wonderment in their sweet eyes. Still others may see all the foofaraw and regard it with a detached ambivalence that fails to bely their opinion on the entire matter (we’re looking at you cats.) Then there are those who seem to, when faced with an elf on a shelf or jaunty Santa hat, react with such vehemence that there’s no question how they feel on the matter. They must stop Christmas from coming.
