Shark swimming

Naude Dreyer is a wildlife enthusiast from Namibia. So when he got a call about sharks that were trapped in a tide pool, he knew he had to help! “The sharks are in trouble so I knew I had to help,” said Dreyer.

Someone who had been walking along the lagoon explained that the shark was trapped due to a sulfur eruption, which is a natural process where all the oxygen disappears from the water. The shark wandered into the shallow water in search of waves, and by the time they realized they were stuck in the pool, the tide had already dropped. They were completely exposed and would have died.

That’s where Naude Dreyer steps in to save the day. However, they were bigger and stronger than he had anticipated, at about 40 pounds. His idea was to carefully grab them by hand and place them back into a deeper area of water. The sharks, not knowing that he was trying to help, fought back and tried to escape his grasp. After many tries, they finally got tired and let Dreyer relocate them 150 meters away into deeper water.
