Unfortunately, the world is not a very peaceful or safe place for many individuals. From conflict to abuse to exploitation, there is so much cruelty inflicted on both humans and animals. While this can get disheartening and difficult to hear about, petitions are a great way to use your voice for good. Just by signing one, you are a part of helping those who are not treated fairly. You can even share them with your friends and acquaintances to increase your impact.
Through petitions, we can reach those in power and demand justice for others. They are valuable tools for making positive changes in the world. If you are looking for a way to help animals and humans, here are 10 petitions you should sign this week, including Expel Ted Cruz from the Senate, Pass the Keeping All Students Safe Act, and Protect Gray Wolves From Extinction
We want to thank you for being the change you wish to see in the world and giving a voice to the voiceless.

When people feed wildlife, they often don’t realize how much harm they are actually doing. By giving wildlife food, People are teaching them to trust humans, get near us, and wander near our cars hoping to find more food. This often leads to these animals being deemed “a danger to humans” and thus, being euthanized, which is what recently happened to a fox in Wyoming. The U.S. Park Service needs to better enforce these rules so that more innocent animals aren’t killed. Sign this petition to tell U.S. park service authorities to send human-habituated wild animals to reputable sanctuaries instead of euthanizing them!

A savage winter storm – combined with a privatized power grid – has left Texas in a state of emergency. Millions of people lost power and water, grocery store shelves quickly became empty, and pipes burst, causing severe damage to many homes. While his state and constituents were in crisis, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) decided to take a family vacation to Cancun. The Senator’s actions have shown that he is not interested in supporting Texans in even their most dire hour – he must step down. Sign this petition to demand Sen. Ted Cruz’s resignation for booking a tropical vacation while his voters literally freeze to death.

During the pandemic, countries should be able to allocate their resources to saving lives. However, many countries are having difficulty funding emergency plans since they have to repay debts. The pandemic is wreaking havoc on the economies of the poorest countries and could push millions of people into hunger and poverty. Sign this petition to urge G20 representatives, the World Bank, and International Monetary Fund (IMF) to suspend all debt repayments for the world’s poorest countries so they can focus on fighting COVID.

While beastiality is illegal in most US states, there are still a few places in which it is legal, one of which is Hawaii. Fortunately, Senate Bill 343 was been introduced to make anyone who “subjects an animal to sexual contact;” owns, sells, or buys an animal for purposes of sexual abuse; or participates in the sexual abuse of an animal guilty of a felony. This bill passed unanimously through Hawaii’s Senate and now needs to make it through the state House of Representatives. Then, it can be signed into law by the Governor. Sign this petition and tell Hawaii’s legislators to make beastiality a felony!

From burst pipes to the loss of electricity, the unprecedented weather in Texas has left people in a state of crisis. As a result of Texas politicians’ greedy decision to avoid federal regulations by moving to their own power grid, people have lost their homes and their loved ones. Biden did authorize FEMA to go in and help, but clearly, more is needed to address this disaster. Sign this petition to encourage the federal government to provide more assistance to Texas.
On an extremely cold night in Scotland, a homeowner noticed a dog that had been put on top of their 6-foot snowy hedges. They saved the pup and brought him to rescuers, who figured that whoever abandoned the poor pup, shaved him so the crime wouldn’t be easy to trace if the dog were found. Shaving the already small-framed dog made him much more vulnerable to the freezing cold weather. Rescuers said that had he not been found, he most likely would have “succumbed to the elements within a day or so…” Sign this petition and ask that the Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) find whoever shaved and abandoned this dog to freeze to death!

Of all the election-overturning, insurrection-spearheading Republicans to emerge in Trump’s coup on January 6, 2021, Ted Cruz stands out. He was a big proponent of Trump’s false claim of voter fraud, which encouraged the Capitol mob, and led the effort to overturn the election results. Sign this petition to demand the Senate invokes the 14th Amendment to expel Cruz from office for contributing to Trump’s coup.
Recently, a pup named Arugula was found in the middle of the harsh Chicago winter. She was severely underweight, unable to stand, and wrapped in a urine-soaked blanket. Fortunately, she was rescued, but she is still struggling to survive and will need a lot more care. All of the surgeries and treatments she has received so far cost the rescue over $21,000. The City of Chicago had a budget of $11.6 billion in 2020, and only around $7 million went to Chicago Animal Care and Control. It’s the only city-funded pound, and it is disproportionately supported by animal shelters and charities. Chicago has a responsibility to these animals and should be supporting rescues’ admirable work. Sign this petition to ask Chicago to increase funding for vulnerable animals in the shelter system!

In some American schools, seclusion and restraint are used against students who are “acting out.” These tactics can cause physical harm and psychologically traumatize children. Sadly, they are most often used on disabled students who need more Support, not physical punishment. Fortunately, a new bill called the Keeping All Students Safe Act (KASSA) was introduced to end these practices in any school that receives federal funding. Sign this petition to demand the United States Congress passes KASSA to end the seclusion and restraint to protect vulnerable children!

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service is attempting to delist gray wolves from the Endangered Species Act in the contiguous 48 states. Although their population has somewhat recovered, ESA protections are vital. The last time they were removed from the list, nearly 1,500 of them were killed in just three seasons. Fortunately, organizations are challenging the Department’s decision. Sign this petition to tell the Department of the Interior’s Fish and Wildlife Service that you oppose their proposal to delist gray wolves from the ESA.
