Young Dogs Returned to Shelter in Search of New Home

Two puppies, Spoon and Fork, are looking for a forever home after being returned to the Yolo County Animal Services Shelter in Woodland, California. Originally adopted together in August, they were recently brought back due to a family member’s allergies. The pair had been found as strays in Zamora, California, with no one stepping forward to claim them.

The return to the shelter hasn’t just affected Spoon and Fork. Their mother, London, an adult dog, was also returned after her high energy made her unsuitable for a home with small children. Now, all three dogs are back at the shelter, hoping for a second chance at adoption.

Despite the setback, the shelter is optimistic. “The puppies get to be housed together so they’re never lonely,” the staff shared. “Of course, it’s confusing and stressful for any dog to be brought back to the shelter environment after spending time in a home, but our staff and volunteers are really devoted to providing as much love and care to all of the animals as possible.”

Sadly, the shelter also pointed out that “black dog syndrome,” where darker-colored dogs are overlooked, might be at play. Yet, they remain hopeful that the right families will come along soon for Spoon, Fork, and London.
