Earlier this month, Christina Podolyan, 25, thought her partner Leish had planned a casual day out. Instead, the surprise destination turned out to be an RSPCA shelter. Upon arrival, she noticed a man with an energetic dog. Assuming he was adopting, she congratulated him, only to hear something that left her shaken.

“He responded by saying that, unfortunately, he was there to do the opposite, and he’d decided to surrender her,” Podolyan said. Overwhelmed, she excused herself to regain composure.

When she returned, the man was preparing to leave, having been told to visit another shelter since the RSPCA was full. But Podolyan intervened, offering to take the Staffordshire bull terrier and American pit bull mix home herself. The man explained that he could no longer care for the dog, originally named Kara, due to personal difficulties.

Renamed Bambi, the gentle dog quickly bonded with Podolyan. “She has got to be the gentlest girl we’ve ever come across,” Podolyan said. “We could never live with ourselves if we let her break like that.” A TikTok video showing Bambi’s affectionate nature melted hearts online, amassing over 498,000 views and 66,000 likes. It’s clear Bambi has found her forever home!
