Peanut Butter and Jelly came into the care of Sonoma County Animal Services after their previous owner passed away. The dogs were a pair of bonded seniors, making it difficult to place them in a new home. To give the 12-year-old duo a better chance of finding a home, they were placed with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. There, they received medical treatment for a horrifying reason.

Their previous person had affixed jewels to the top of the two dogs’ heads. The glue used to bond the jewels to their skin burned the senior pair, leaving the dogs with matching scars. Although both of the dogs’ scars are visible, Peanut Butter’s is much more pronounced due to the color of their coat. It is thought that the person who did this was unaware of the effect the glue was having on the dogs, and they are described as otherwise well taken care of before their surrender.

Although the jewels were taken off, the dogs’ scars are likely permanent. However, luckily they are now in much better hands. The bonded duo is now living in a loving foster home. They are available for adoption but will need to stay together in their forever home.
