Unexpected Bunny Rescue at Vancouver International Airport

A traveler returning a rental car at Vancouver International Airport got more than they bargained for after discovering a small animal running loose in the parking lot. Reddit user Gone_and_Forgotten shared the heartwarming rescue story on the subreddit r/aww last month. Initially mistaking the bunny for a pet, the user acted after witnessing a near-miss as a woman almost stepped on the tiny creature. Rental car employees revealed the bunny had been eluding capture for some time. With a bit of gentle coaxing, the Redditor managed to catch the bunny, surprising everyone present.

Encouraged by his girlfriend, the rental car staff, and the bunny’s adorable face, the user decided to take the little animal home. They named the bunny Cinnabun. The couple quickly immersed themselves in learning about Netherland dwarf rabbits to provide proper care for their new pet. Cinnabun swiftly adapted to his new environment, becoming very comfortable in his new home. The couple even welcomed a second rabbit as a companion for Cinnabun, admitting the decision was partly driven by the irresistible cuteness of the bunnies.

An airport representative, Alyssa Smith, said that while the airport was unaware of this specific rescue, they are aware of the rabbit population around Richmond and Sea Island, where the airport is located. To manage this, the airport implements measures such as signage discouraging pet drop-offs and wildlife feeding, along with maintaining low-value vegetation around the terminal to deter wildlife.

The Reddit post featuring Cinnabun’s rescue garnered significant attention, amassing over 17,000 upvotes and 230 comments, with many users gushing over the adorable bunny.
