5 Times Cats Loved to Swim!

Cat swimming in pool

When it comes to our beloved feline companions, the image that often springs to mind is that of a graceful, independent creature that treads lightly and daintily avoids water at all costs. Cats are known for their meticulous grooming habits and an almost instinctual aversion to anything remotely wet. However, as any seasoned cat owner can attest, these enigmatic creatures never cease to amaze us with their unpredictable behavior!

Hokule’a’s love for the water started gradually. When he was first adopted, it took him a little while to warm up to everything (even his parents). But soon, they noticed that his curiosity was bringing him toward the water. Eventually, they decided to take him on their surfboards, where he “hangs ten” and goes for a dip.

This five-week-old kitten was found while her soon-to-be human companion was helping out at his uncle’s house on St. John’s Island. When he found her, they instantly connected and a  trip to the beach showed that she was full of surprises!

Kitsune’s human companions missed her while they went for hikes and adventures together. So, they decided to start bringing her along. This unleashed an adventurer inside the feline. Now, she swims, hikes, and climbs trees!

The remarkable stories of cats embracing swimming adventures demonstrate that our feline friends are not confined to the stereotypes that surround them. Their innate curiosity and adaptability allow them to transcend their natural aversion to water, revealing a hidden side of their personalities that is as endearing as it is surprising. These extraordinary instances of cats loving to swim remind us that the animal kingdom is filled with wonders.
