A video captured on a home security system in Gardena, California shows an Amazon delivery driver taking a swim in a home’s pool after dropping off a package. According to Viralhog, the site the video was posted to, this occurred on June 30. In the video, the delivery driver can be seen exiting the car and walking to the back of the home with the package delivery. After placing the package by the door, he sets down his phone. Then, he dives fully clothed into the cool, blue pool. He does not even bother to remove his shoes or hat. After his swim, the driver can be seen walking calmly back to his car.

Although the dive may have appeared impromptu, the driver was invited by the home’s owners to go for a dip in the pool. A note in the delivery instructions read “If you want to go for a swim, you’re welcome to.” The driver simply chose to take advantage of the customer’s friendly decision to share their pool.
As heat waves sweep the globe, temperatures are soaring. The hottest day in recorded history was set twice in July 2023 alone. On July 3rd, global average air temperatures reached a record high of 17.01 degrees Celsius (62.62 degrees Fahrenheit). July 4th saw an even higher global average air temperature at 17.18 degrees Celsius (62.92 degrees Fahrenheit). Oceans in South Florida have also reached record high temperatures of over 100 degrees.
In a year already fraught with record-setting heat, both on land and in the sea, experts warn that heat waves could become more and more common due to Climate change. Heat waves are extremely dangerous to animals and humans. Humans struggle to regulate their body temperatures in conditions above 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Both human and non-human animals not only struggle to maintain body temperatures, but studies now also suggest that intense heat could have negative effects on animal reproduction.
Heat waves and other extreme weather events have devastating consequences. Unfortunately, as Climate change continues, extreme weather will become more prevalent. Sign this petition to Help Prevent Climate Catastrophe!
