Pippa, a resilient three-legged dog, has captured hearts after her remarkable journey from the streets to a loving home. Found in 2017 with severe injuries in New Orleans, Pippa was rescued by the Southern Animal Foundation. Following the amputation of her leg and tail, and months of rehabilitation, she was ready for adoption.
Lydia Crochet, already a proud parent of Jeanie, a disabled therapy dog, felt an instant connection with Pippa upon learning about her story. Crochet adopted Pippa, hoping she would be a good companion for senior Jeanie. Despite initial challenges, the bond between the two dogs grew, aided by patience and a dog trainer’s help.
Jeanie, an award-winning therapy dog known for her work in libraries, schools, and hospitals, provided Pippa with the comfort and companionship she needed. However, in November, Jeanie passed away at age 16. Both Crochet and Pippa grieved deeply, but they found solace in each other.
Pippa has since adapted and brought joy to Crochet’s life, often featured in TikTok videos that have garnered significant Support. Crochet hopes Pippa’s story inspires others to adopt rescue dogs, emphasizing the joy and resilience these animals bring into their lives.
