A video of a stray Pit Bull who was rescued from being shot is garnering praise on TikTok. Posted by animal rescue Gateway Pet Guardians, the video shows a stray dog the group rescued. The gray and white Pit Bull, christened Lucy, was wandering the streets with a wire wrapped around her neck. Rather than helping her, some horrible people decided to shoot at the stray dog. Fortunately, some kind strangers were able to corral her and keep her safe until the rescue arrived.

In the video, the group can be seen picking up Lucy. The stray Pit Bull is understandably nervous and scared. However, she seems to trust her rescuers and even allows them to give her a few pats. After they take her back to the shelter, they remove the wire from around her neck with bolt cutters. Lucy can then be seen cuddling with a member of the rescue staff.
Pit Bulls and other bully-breed dogs face an uphill battle when it comes to being adopted. According to Rescue Dog Home, dogs labeled as “Pit Bull” make up 33% of the shelter dog population. This breed is frequently stereotyped and misunderstood. Recently, a heartbreaking video showing one stray Pit Bull has drawn further attention to the plight of these, and other shelter dogs.
