A hound dog named Troy spent two years living as a stray in West Cork, Ireland. Although the stray dog found a family who fed him and offered him shelter, the dog was too scared of humans and eluded capture. However, eventually, he became so ill that he could no longer run from rescuers. A rescue team from Cork Dog Action Welfare Group managed to bring Troy into a shelter.
Once the stray dog was at the shelter, he began the recovery process. He is now eating a nutritious diet to help him gain weight and receiving veterinary care. Sadly, Troy is still terrified of humans. However hopefully with time, he will learn to trust. Until then, rescue staff have placed him in a foster home that has experience handling nervous dogs. They hope that this will mitigate the dog’s stress.
