In San Leon, Texas, a horrifying scene unfolded when Kaylee Humburger searched for her missing cat, Cheesecake. Inside her neighbor’s home, Kaylee found a nightmare: around 50 dead animals—mostly cats, locked in carriers—left to suffer and die alone.

Worse still, cows, horses, a raccoon, a dog, and only one survivor—a blind draft horse—were found amidst the carnage. Shockingly, the homeowner had a prior record of animal cruelty. How did authorities let this happen again?
